Download of the week.

The Wozard of Iz!
If you like moog records and wacked out beatniks talking jive this has to be the holy grail.
"The musical, which might have been intended to go beyond just a recorded album, is a psycho-electronic re-working of "The Wizard of Oz" that sounds like the soundtrack to the greatest LSD/FREAK_OUT / MOOG / SYNTH / ELECTRONIC MUSICAL that never was. This oddity is a hysterical and typical leftist/hippie commentary on the socioeconomic human condition of the average American in 1968, and uses the analogy of Dorothy taking a "trip" from Kansas for a brighter and better world where one can really be "free."

The Sword - Age of Winters

I discovered these guys a few months ago and I really dig them, the sound like Sabbath. Yesterday I finally got my hands on the record, in nice clear vinyl. The album is their first and was released in 2006 on Kemado Records. Since then they have released a 7” of Freya with a live version of Iron Swan on the b side (if you see it let me know) and this month a split 12” with Witchcraft. Enjoy…

First booze cruz of the summer

It all started off politely and degenerated quickly from there.

It was the same night as the 'JT' concert, so there were loads of scantily clad young women around. It took me a while to figure out how John Tamahere could pull such a crowd. At one point some people walking along asked us if we wanted two tickets to the show. One of the twins, the eviler one, grabbed them. I think he wanted to get back stage.

So we drank loads of beer and talked even more shit, then me and Brian decided to ride up to the Winchester to hang with some courier dudes.

On the way up Symonds street I felt my saddle slip a bit, then it just fell off completely.

I stopped, turned around and saw a dude grabbing it from out of the street. The jammy fucker tried to charge me a fiver for it: I gave him a high five instead.

By the time we got to the pub...my memory's not so good because now I remember some other stuff, but I can't be sure...

Obey!!

Shepard Fairey is currently having a massive exhibition in the UK and our little team paid it a visit last weekend. Stolen Space gallery have taken over the 1st floor to the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane for the show. The exhibition is amazing and it’s a shame allot of you wont get to see it in person. Here are a few photos to give you a taste.

The other week Mark posted an image of the Obey/Fuji track bike. Well, round the corner from the exhibition at this little clothing shop we found it. There was a bunch of Obey stuff in the windows and I wanted to have a look at some of the kicks so we strolled in and up the back…

freak bikes unite.

Gots some new bits for my bike the other day (Ill post some pics in the weekend) but I was lying in bed this morning staring at my bike (as you do) and having trouble deciding if it was totally awesome or a total eyesore.
But I had nothing to do at work today so I was checking out some sites I hadnt looked at for a while namely pedalmafia. and found some crazy fresh bikes that made me feel alot better about riding a bike thats not white with an white aerospoke.

this is plain looking i know but its got a steel mag wheel!

well if you hate all these bikes youll be in good company check out http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/ hes really funny and constantly posting taking the piss outta us weirdos who cant help but make our bikes look stupid.

Lunch Time

Ive been looking for a bunch of blogs and podcasts to listen to while at work. Here are a couple, nothing to blow your mind, and no stretch of the imagination to find them. Its a bit hit and miss with these so you might have to search through them to find something to your taste.

Drunken Keirin

Yeah! Racing and drinking - what an excellent combo! Not really sure of the format other than there'll be beer and bikes. I'll see if I can round up some dodgy old Japanese dudes to yell swearwords at us as we race and maybe some shady characters with black bandanas and missing pinky finger tips. So, Avondale Velodrome is on Portage road. Be there on the 10th of November at 12pm. Check out the video below for some serious Japanese Keirin action. If the weather sux, then it'll be postponed till the next week.

Bicycle Film Festival

So things have been busy over the last few weeks. Ive got new job retouching at a big photo studio and we just moved into Mark & Asha’s flat in Kings Cross (Ruapekapeka once more). As mark said I took some photos of the bicycle film fest after party and the polo the next day. I forgot to take my camera to the cinema so I cant show you the mad bike park up outside. There were so many bikes they had to have valet parking, rad! So here are some pics for y’all.
